Annyong Ha-se-yo...from Korea (20th Apr 2008)

Today we had to wake up early coz we're going to DMZ (Demilitarized Zone)!!!!! I'm so lookin forward to this one! It's the sempadan between North & South Korea. Obviously, it's a very restricted area...kawasan military. Kmi msti bwa passport jua sal kana check dsana. Tkut kmi lari k North Korea kli! heheh N since it's a very restricted area...so nda dpt byk menggambar :) Dsana ada observatory tower...dpt menerupung k North Korea. Curious jua kn mliat apa usul org North Korea ani...tp nda jua ku nmpak! Obviously, sama plg jua jnis jelama nya tu mcm org South Korea jua! N then kmi naik mcm this roller-coaster type of transport msuk k dlm tunnel yg North Korea pernah dig when they planned to attack South Korea lah ah. I find it amusing that they found 4 tunnels in total. Between 1970s-1990s. The latest one was dug in 1990s. Yg open to public is Tunnel No.3 sja. Tunnels yg lain were either too close to the boundary line or alum abis be-check bnar2. DMZ is located 2km from the boundary line. Then udh smpai k ujung track transport atu, jln kaki lg d dlm tunnel ah...Klu org claustraphobic, nda plg sngup kli tu...sal the tunnel was very narrow. But it felt safe coz ia kira tmpat tourists udh kan..so rmai lah org d bwah atu. The tunnel is about 1.7km long, 2m high (so org tinggi pksa tunduk ni bjln) and 2m wide. It runs through bedrock at a depth of about 73m below ground...very deep ah??? Sepatut nya panas plg ni...but I think kna bgi aircond udh dbwah ah. N then udh smpai ujung tunnel atu pun actually alum lg ujung bnar tu! Kna pagar udh...pagar basi with all these barb wires...kira nda safe lgi lah. Salnya dekat2 the boundary line atu msh ada lgi land mines kna tanam yg bepuluh2 tahun dulu yg alum kejumpahan. So tats why the DMZ atu located 4km from the boundary. Yg kwasan the boundary atu is the so-called No Man's land. Drg ceta even the animals were victims of the hidden land mines. Scary...yet interesting!

Effect from the Korean war dulu atu, many families te-separate lah antara North & South Korea. So 1 reason DMZ was built is so that these families can meet. Ada masa2 tertentu plg ni bila drg gather together ani...ada kna liat2kan skit some videos...ksian usulnya coz drg mcm long lost family members kan. And another interesting thing is ada jua train station dri South Korea k North Korea! But of coz lah ah nda rmai passengers nya..duii sunyi hntap train station ah. It's called Dorasan Station. Train ani pun inda tiap2 hari ni...ada masa2 tertentu sja ia operational. Msa kmi melawat k Dorasan Station ani, kelurusan tah jua in operation train atu msa atu. Ada tah kmi nmpak org naik train atu k North Korea. Tp dpt d itung brapa org passenger nya ah...10 org kli gnya! hehehe Skli msa arh immigration nya, kmi kna sruh chop stamp Pyongyang (capital of North Korea) arh passport kmi. Ada tu be-chop arh passport ku heheh

Then mlm nya kmi kna bwa liat movie d hotel. "Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War" Not exactly mcm d cinema plg. Ia mainkan DVD skli pkai projector k screen hehehe N kna order kan pizza...so smua org mliat mcm d umah lah ah. Aku mliat plg udh ni movie ah...The 1st time ku mliat msa ku kKorea sma Hjh Marinah. Movie nya sal kisah Korean War dulu lah masa North & South Korea bekelaie. So the movie is more on sal peperangan but it's sal war between two brothers...sal family apa...nnti ku mbli dvd nya!

It's the weekends! So we don't have any lectures today. Melawat sja. We went to Gyeongbuk Palace..an old palace zaman dynasty2 drg suatu ketika dahulu. As usual, ada photographer kmi so nda ku byk menggambar jua sal aku mau msuk dlm gmbar jua! heheh

Lps atu kmi k Namsan Tower. The tower is located on the Namsan Mountain. Rmai berabiz org...Kmi pkai bas naik k Namsan Mountain then parking. N then pksa lg kmi jln kaki naik bukit! Hntap tu nda fit aasaku angih2 hntap naik! hahahaha Yg bsai nya bukitnya ani beusai udh be-pet (nda ku pndai mengeja) yg mcm jln raya ah...so rmai lah hntap jelama sna. Then kmi naik lif k Namsan tower atas sekali! Nmpak the whole of Seoul!!! Siuk eh...kaca sja lgi tu dinding nya..bri ngilu plg! hehehe N then arh dinding kaca atu kna tulis nama2 countries lain ikut which direction lah like north-east-south-west & brapa distance nya frm sana. Unfortunately nada Brunei... Sorry ani nada gambar jua...

Lps atu kmi k Yongsan Electronics Market. Basaaa tu hntap nda ku tahu berapa tingkat! Bjurit lgi tu kdai2 d dlm nya like 2 tingkat bjual mobile..2 tingkat bjual brg2 cmputer..Tp tmpat ani well-known for a 'notorious' place. Kmi kna gtau that sni ani majal dikit penjual2 nya. Klu ktani btnya hrga like lps atu d pajal2 nya tu mesti mbali! Iatah baie ku hijap kn btanya! Kna lagau2 lg tu klu diri mlintas! Salnya drg ni ada yg pembuyuk lah klu d liatnya diri nda biasa sna. Mcm arh kdai sni, ani hrganya...krg arh kdai sbuting atu lain lg hrganya! N i noticed most of brg2nya murah lg dBrunei lah. Brg2 drg sja yg murah...as in brg2 Korea. But ada jua yg murah lh ah dr d Brunei...it depends. I bought card reader (sal card reader ku tingal) and external hard disk. Notebook nya lawa2...uwaaaa...yg buatan Korea i mean heheh ada plg yg lain jua like Sony Viao...tp drg ani luan kan d-Korea kannya abis mcm! Menu arh cmputer pun Korea smua..Keyboard pun Korea! Then lps ngalih round2, kmi lepak mnum coffee d luar.

Today we had lecture in the morning. Then tengahari lunch as usual..but aku lupa dimana. Then ptg nya kmi kna bwa k shopping area Myeongdong tpi ukan shopping..we had a U-tour. Kmi mencuba this thing called U-Hub where u can rent this mobile phone from the U-tour counter dMyeongdong n then ada this board showing the list of shops available in Myeongdong and ada built-in sensor dlm board atu. Sekiranya kitani kan mncari 1 particular shop atu dimana tmpatnya, bleh pkai mobile phone men-check dmana exactly tmpat kdai atu n also ada explanation of apa sja bejual in that kadai lah...very useful!!! But problem nya mobile phone atu menu nya in Korea! hahahaha Msa atu kmi kna ajar2 lah uleh org U-Tour atu n then lps atu kmi lepak d cafe sna sambil mengisi borang survey. N then dpan entrance k Myeongdong ani ada kdai bsar...Lotte Department Store! Tp kmi nda kna bwa ksna! Insya Allah..nnti ku ksna b4 ku blik..mudahannn tah smpai ku ksna!!! hehehe

Today we had lectures both in the morning and afternoon. Lunch break kmi kna bwa k Korean Restaurant...jln kaki sj frm the office. Nda ku menggambar mkanannya...As usual korean food yg mcm2..n then ada mcm steamboat lauk rabus..tpi nda berasa lngsung! hahaha Makan sja tia...

The famous Korean gula-gula..."ANYTIME"...insya Allah nnti ku mbali n bwa k Brunei...

Then mlm nya kmi kna bwa mliat theatre...Polunin's Snowshow...it's from Russia.

We had lecture in the morning. The picture below was taken msa ku dlm coach on the way k tmpat lunch. Luckily, restaurant nya jenis mcm European or Italian restaurant kah tu...so nyaman jua sikit mkanannya :)

The picture below is masa sorg2 sibuk mengorder. Paling riuh ni time mengorder ani sal nya byk soalan...luan mostly nya tulisan Korea!

Then, in the afternoon, kmi melawat Cyber Terror Response Center...it's arh Police Department but unit ani khas utk handle crimes related to IT such as hackers.



Then lps atu kmi melawat k "U-Dream Hall". Tmpat ani mcm kira in the future berabiz lah...mcm ada robot tia cleaning the house...stuff like that. Tp nda ku mengambar ni sal ada photographer kmi udh. Nnti kna bgi tu gmbar2 atu. Then kna bwa k biggest bookstore in Korea. Mround kmi sja...salnya mostly buku2 nya in Korean!!! So kmi dduk2 sja d luar..ambil fresh air..

First lecture starts in the morning. Lecture room nya d hotel ani jua arh level 25. N then lunch nda ku ingat lg dmana pkoknya Korean Restaurant. N then ptang nya blajar Korean language...siuk eh! hehe N then abis lecture arnd kul 3 lalu catu. Lps tu kna sruh k bilik msing2 tukar bju sports sal kn kna bwa blajar Taekwando lg! hahaha Kmi kna bwa k this dewan lah ah kn bljar Taekwando ah. Kna pinjamkan bju Taekwando sorg2...Bru ku prnah merasai mkai bju Taekwando ani! Too bad nda ku mengambar salnya sibuk ku be-taekwando, camera pun tingal dlm beg! Tp dun worry, photographer sntiasa ada katik2. Mula2 warming up dlu...Kpisan warming up atu pun udh sorg2 keriak2 kesakitan luan telabih stretch! Skli kmi kna ajar basic taekwando lah ah..cmana cara attack and defense pkai tngan..pkai elbow..pkai kaki pun ada! N then msti dgn bunyi2 nya skali tu be-taekwando ah...haiiiiyaaa!!!!!!!!!! hahaha Skli lps atu, kna sruh kmi dduk siring2 n buat bulatan lah. Skliiiii...master nya ani memilih 2 org utk kelaie d tngah2 bulatan ah! Ia pilih 2 org-2 org smpai smua ampit lah ah! Yg aku ani lalai tetutup2 mta bah mliat drg kelaie tngah2 ah...ngilu ku!!!!! Skli smpai tia turn ku!!! Since kmi bini2 2 org sj, so kmi be-2 bini2 lah kelaie ah. Awu main antam sj eh...tndang2 sja taya kna kah nda kana kah! Skli ketawa2 lg tu! Mun nya master nya..mcm ukan kelaie, mcm sisters tah plg ia ketawa2 be-taekwando! Andang mcm sisters jua bah...sama2 jua sihat kmi be-2 tu! Bsar badan! Skli yg siuk nya lg lps atu kna bgi sijil jua!!! Jaditah...ada sijil for participation belajar taekwando sehari! hehehehe Gmbart taekwando ani nanti2 tah ni ah, udh kna bgi arh kmi. Lps taekwando, kelaparan sorg2! Kna bwa tah kmi k Itaewon...arh Uthmani Restaurant. It's a Pakistani restaurant...so everything's halal...Alhamdulillah! Tp pksa jua ku jaga2 skit sal mknannya skli nya pdas, pdas tuuuu hntap! Poppadum nya pun pdas ani bah d baienya bigi lada hijau pakah apa kah tu! Tp yg lain ada jua yg ok lah. Btw, Itaewon ani tmpat d Korea yg pling byk tourists. Kira tmpt tourists lah sni ani. Mcm klu kitani k Itaewon ani, mcm ukan d Korea rsanya. Sal org2 nya mostlynya org putih...gagak...n other asians lah. Therefore, restaurants nya pun kira international lah sni ni ah. I heard other than Uthmani Restaurant ani, ada lg another halal restaurant...nda ku silap Ashoka nmanya. N I heard ada masjid jua d Itaewon ani but nda ku nmpak dmana lah ah msa atu. After dinner, round2 kwsan kdai sna...tp nda ku beliur kn mbli2 sal aku lalah hntap udh! cuci mta sja. Lgipun mahal2 nymu brg2 d Korea ani..souvenirs gnya yg ku be-mood kn mbli sni ni. Then lps tu kmi pun blik k hotel naik our bus.

Finally, we arrived at Incheon Airport, Korea at 7am (Korean time). Rupanya kmi dr Brunei ani tah yg last smpai! Participants lain smua smpai udh…ada yg dtg the day before udh..n ada yg dtg pgi lg b4 kmi. Skli naik coach lg dr airport k hotel. Msa nungu coach atu kmi bediri2 d luar..nda tah ku expect sajuk..yg klu benafas kuar asap ah! Baik jua ku bli coat baru msa d Spore! hehehe Smpat ku menggambar dr dlm coach..tp begagar lah... Skli smpai d hotel around 10am. Bjumpa sma our organizers/coordinators lah ah…kna explain2 dikit then rehat k bilik. Siuk bilikku..basar lah. (Click on the pictures to enlarge)

Then mlm nya kmi kna bwa dinner...kirakan mcm Welcoming Reception lah ah. So kna bwa arh tmpat exclusive sikit...mcm atas bukit..very nice view. Nama tmpat nya Samcheonggak.
